The Design Verification Unit operates as an accredited inspection body (in accordance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17020), carrying out verification activities for the validation of projects pursuant to Article 42 of Legislative Decree No. 36/2023, in accordance with the requirements of independence, impartiality and competence.
With specialist expertise in hydraulic, environmental and waste treatment works, the Unit supports the implementation of NRRP projects and major strategic works, ensuring compliance, design quality and reduced technical risks.

We carry out multidisciplinary verifications of design documents, assessing the different components of each project and their coordination in an integrated way. Our activities focus on the timely identification of critical issues, inconsistencies and potential optimisations, including through the use of digital tools, thereby helping to make design processes more effective and integrated.
Design verification for validation purposes, with oversight of technical, regulatory and performance requirements, carried out across engineering disciplines in the hydraulic, wastewater treatment, energy and waste treatment sectors.
A single Acea verification body ensuring consistent and comparable quality standards across Acea companies. The same model can also be applied to external clients (Type C inspection body).
Verification of BIM models in accordance with UNI 11337, carried out directly on the ACC data platform by inspectors qualified as BIM Specialists under UNI 11337-7 and UNI/PdR 78:2020.
Our Design Verification Unit has been operating since 2018 as a Type C inspection body accredited to UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17020, carrying out verification activities for the purpose of project validation.
We have verified more than 100 projects, with a total works value of over €2 billion, in the hydraulic works sector (aqueducts, sewerage systems, water centres, wastewater treatment plants and drinking water treatment plants), and waste treatment sector. Our verification activities have included projects under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), as well as other major strategic works for Acea and the community.
We are able to carry out LV3 verification of BIM models in accordance with UNI 11337, both within the AcDat common data environment and through traditional verification of design documents.
